ABOUT ME

My name is Paul Hoemke, and I've been interested in games since I was a kid, playing them and creating them.

I created 'Tic-Tac-Tox' when I was a teenager, and 'Detection' when I was a young adult. I also attempted to create bigger, more complex games such as a boardgame called 'The Grimstone Hall Mystery'. I worked long and hard on that.

But I've always liked small, simple games like Hearts, Yacht, and Cribbage. It wasn't until I wrote 'Hearts Plus Three' several years ago that I realized that I had a knack for creating them. That was around 50 games ago.

I hope I can inspire visitors to this website to grab a deck of playing cards or some dice or a checkerboard and checkers and give simple games a try. It's an electronics age, a hard sell, but I keep hoping.

There may be kids who can discover the fun of playing Crazy Eights or Yacht.

And there may be teenagers and young adults who can have fun interacting with others their own age while playing Hearts or Tripoli.

And there may be parents who can appreciate inexpensive but fun activities for family game night such as playing Go Fish or Shut the Box.

And there may be older adults who used to enjoy playing Cribbage or Gin Rummy, and can rediscover that joy.

And there may even be computer programmers looking for simple games that they can convert into computer games.

As for me, I am a 60 year old computer programmer living and working in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I have lived in Saint Paul all my life. I have a wife and three grown kids. I still work full time. Animal Game Mart is my hobby, and there's never enough time.
